Amazon opts for Australia's longest Black Friday sale: Tanya Hennessy steps up for comedic relief

Amazon Australia is pulling out all the stops for its longest-ever Black Friday sale, running for a full 14 days until December 3. In a bid to help Australian shoppers navigate the sales, the company has enlisted the help of comedian Tanya Hennessy, who will be stepping into the role of 'Tanya from Accounts', Amazon's new Black Friday Personal Shopper.

Amazon's move comes as research indicates that 91% of Australians are being more considerate with their purchases due to the rising cost of living pressures. 'Tanya from Accounts' is designed to alleviate some of these pressures by offering bookable calendar blocks and a limited number of VIP 1:1 personal shopping calls, complete with Amazon gift cards worth $100.

Customers can vie for a chance to win a VIP virtual 1:1 call with Tanya on Black Friday and a $100 Amazon gift card by emailing tanya@tanyafromaccounts.com. They are required to explain in 25 words or less who the trickiest person they need to shop for is, with the 20 best responses being selected as winners.

Hennessy, known for her comedic flair, is expected to bring a light-hearted touch to the shopping experience. She said, 'Sometimes you need a little creative calender-ing to make time for the really important things in life - you know, like shopping the Amazon Black Friday Sale!'

Matthew Benham, General Manager at Amazon Australia, said: 'Our Black Friday Sale is the longest we have ever run as we want to ensure shoppers have the chance to get ahead of the holiday season. This Black Friday, we’ve called in a professional (-ish looking person), ‘Tanya from Accounts’ to help Aussies shake off any shopping stress by giving them the chance to lock in dedicated time to discover bargains and shop, plus for a number of shoppers, a good laugh too.'
