Linktree appoints ex-Airbnb exec JZ Zhang Chief Product Officer, AI specialists for creator economy

Linktree, the Australian-based link-in-bio platform with 45m-plus creators globally, has appointed Jiaona “JZ” Zhang, formerly of Airbnb, as its new Chief Product Officer.

The company has also brought on board Martin Gold and Johnny Hunter, both with deep AI expertise, to lead a team focused on AI, machine learning, and personalisation. These strategic hires are set to help Linktree transform the creator economy and enhance its platform for its 45M+ creators worldwide.

Zhang brings extensive experience in product strategy and development from her previous roles at Webflow, Airbnb, WeWork, and Dropbox. Gold and Hunter, serial entrepreneurs whose first startup, Sonalytic, was acquired by Spotify in 2017, will focus on how machine learning, AI, and personalisation can unlock innovations for Linktree, including advancing social commerce following the launch of the Linktree Storelink in Q4.

"Linktree is a product-led organisation, and has been since day one, focused on growing and innovating our offerings to meet the needs of the over 45M Linkers who rely on Linktree to unify, engage and monetise their online presence," said Alex Zaccaria, Linktree CEO and Co-Founder. "I know JZ, Martin and Johnny will each have a massive impact on our growth, product, Linkers, and how we realise the Linktree Vision: to empower anyone to curate and grow their digital universe."

The new team will work on helping Linkers make more money, grow and engage their audience across all platforms, and improve the creator experience, personalisation, trust & safety, and social commerce on the Linktree platform. They will also explore how technology can better connect Linkers with brands and other revenue opportunities in a multifaceted marketplace, via product suggestions, link placements, smart CTAs, and more.

Over $6B is spent annually via Linktree, indicating the significant role creators play in the economy. While Gold and Hunter are based in London, they will spend significant time in Australia and California, reflecting the global nature of Linktree's operations and its commitment to serving creators worldwide.

These appointments underscore Linktree's commitment to innovation and its focus on leveraging AI and machine learning to enhance its platform and services. As the creator economy continues to grow, Linktree's strategic hires and focus on AI could potentially redefine how creators engage with their audiences and monetise their online presence.
