Harvey Norman and Yoogalu face second class action lawsuit over misleading warranties
Harvey Norman and its wholly-owned subsidiary Yoogalu are facing a second class action lawsuit over allegations the retailer sod sold extended warranties that had no real value to its customers.
The first lawsuit was filed by Echo Law earlier this week on behalf of customers who were sold extended warranties between September 2018 and the present day. Now, Maurice Blackburn has brought additional proceedings against the company regarding the 'Product Care' warranties.
The warranties were sold by Harvey Norman and its subsidiary stores Domayne and Joyce Mayne, and continue to "pushed onto consumers today” when they buy goods such as smartphones, computers, home appliances and home entertainment products, per Maurice Blackburn.
"HNHL considers that each of HNHL and Yoogalu has complied with all relevant laws at all times and each intends to defend the proceedings vigorously," said Harvey Norman Holdings Limited (HNHL) in an ASX post.
The companies are preparing to defend their position, asserting their compliance with all relevant laws.
