Marie Claire fosters connections at IWD 2024 event
Marie Claire celebrated International Women's Day 2024 with at Sydney's Hinchcliff House, with an event aimed at fostering meaningful connections between women and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
Sponsored by Pandora, along with supporting sponsor Napolean Perdis, the event was attended by 200 guests, including Tanya Plibersek MP, Grace Tame, Anna Coutts-Trotter, Erin Deering, Melissa Leong, Elizabeth Day, Kylie Kwong, Chloe Hayden, Jessica Rowe, Pip Edwards, and Rebecca Vallance.
Marie Claire Editor, Georgie Abay, said: "Every single one of us craves connection. We need both connection and compassion to thrive. In a world where we never stop, taking a moment to slow down and listen to the stories of others has such an impact. And there is nothing like the feeling of being in a room filled with incredible women."
Executives from Marie Claire publisher, Are Media, were also in attendance on the day, including CEO Jane Huxley, GM of Fashion and Beauty, Nicky Briger, Head of Affiliate Partnerships and Business Development, Lauren Leisk, Director of Sales, Andrew Cook, Director of Marketing, Carly Bowra, and Marie Claire Editor, Georgie Abay.
Plibersek shared her thoughts on the importance of women's rights. "It means that you think every woman everywhere has the right to choose her own path, make her own way and to make her own choices."
Deering shared her personal journey towards self-acceptance. "It took me years to realise that happiness comes from within. And I didn’t believe that until I lived the other side and realised that it does."
Day highlighted the importance of authenticity in achieving success. "Success isn’t money based, it’s authenticity based… and showing up as myself in every single scenario."
Leong shared her thoughts on the power of saying 'no'. "We are conditioned as women to please everyone around us… but ‘no’ is a fantastic word."
