Reddit gives its brand a visual refresh to reflecting an evolving user base
Reddit, the popular online platform, is undergoing a significant rebrand to reflect its evolving user base and global expansion.
The rebrand includes updates to its mascot Snoo, brand colours, typography, and the introduction of new bespoke typefaces, Reddit Display and Reddit Sans.
In a blog post, the company said its rebrand aims to make the brand more integrated, intuitive, and global. Reddit Display incorporates the theme of conversation directly, with counterforms designed in the shape of conversation bubbles. Reddit Sans, on the other hand, is designed to be versatile, with clear, understandable letterforms that maintain the warmth and eclectic nature of online conversations. Reddit Sans will be available on GitHub and Google Fonts.
Snoo, Reddit's mascot, has also evolved, moving into 3D with updated poses, expressions, and reactions, as well as opposable thumbs for the first time in Reddit history.
In addition to the typography updates, Reddit is introducing a conversation bubble visual element and expanding the palette of colours used to represent the brand. New colours include GuavaPink, LimeGreen, BananaYellow, and JuniperBlue, with OrangeRed remaining the signature colour for Reddit.
Reddit's mascot, Snoo, is also getting a makeover. Moving into 3D, Snoo will feature updated poses, expressions, and reactions, and will be included in the refreshed logo.
The rebrand is part of Reddit's strategic expansion into new markets and audiences, aiming to strengthen the brand foundation for more creative and consistent expression.
"Our goal remains to focus on redditors' needs and make it simpler to bring community, belonging, and empowerment to everyone in the world," said Reddit's Chief Marketing and Consumer Experience Officer, Roxy Young.
The brand updates will be visible on RedditInc.com and Reddit-run communities, with branding and visual updates in-product (in apps, on desktop and mobile web) in the coming months.
