McDonald's Australia looks for new marketing director following Samantha McLeod's departure

McDonald's Australia is on the hunt for a new marketing director following the departure of Samantha McLeod this month.

The role will sit alongside McDonald's marketing director, Amanda Nakad, and reports into the CMO/ customer chief, Chris Brown. The remit includes overseeing media, digital, value and sponsorship portfolios with a focus on achieving and sustaining long-term brand equity and profitable growth.

According to the jobs post, day-to-day duties stretch from providing strategic guidance and overseeing the media, digital, value and sponsorship teams, to developing and executing targeted marketing initiatives to drive incremental transactions and profitable sales across restaurants nationally.

McDonald's said building strong interpersonal relationships across licensees, employees and suppliers to ensure effective partnerships and collaboration is another must, as is leveraging data and insights for decision making and staying connected to emerging customer trends.

The business is looking for marketing experience preferably within industries such as retail, FMCG or QSR as well as previous senior management role experience.

McLeod confirmed her departure from McDonald's last week, saying she was leaving on a high after the QSR won a Cannes Silver in Brand Experience for its Big Mac campaign, #originalmouthful. The reintroduction of the iconic chant kicked off earlier this year in collaboration with DDB Sydney and OMD.

The campaign has included a TV campaign and innovative out-of-home executions, a 60-second hero film from DDB Sydney titled 'The Original Mouthful' that pays homage to the enduring popularity of Big Macs throughout the decades and the chant's place in the Australian vernacular, plus a Snapchat AR filter and campaign.
