Innovation Advisory aims to bridge comms gap in Australia's deep tech sector

The team behind Espresso Communications and InnovationAus.com has launched a new venture, Innovation Advisory.

The initiative aims to bridge the knowledge and expertise gap in Australia's deep tech sector through robust marketing and communications strategies. The advisory service will develop marketing and communications strategies to support the business ambitions of deep tech companies bringing emerging and innovative technology to market.

Innovation Advisory is led by group CEO, Corrie McLeod, who brings over 25 years of industry development and insights for commercialisation to the table. The firm offers guided workshops to equip fast growth companies with go-to-market strategies and communications fundamentals. It also provides stakeholder mapping for emerging tech founders to connect with the right people and support reaching commercialisation goals.

McLeod, in her statement, emphasised the need for an informed approach to tackle Australia's deep tech commercialisation ambitions.

"Tackling Australia's deep tech commercialisation ambitions requires an informed approach - we have an abundance of sophisticated research, ambitious, skilled people and national wealth built on primary industries. However, the challenge for many deep tech startup founders is identifying the right networks and communications strategies to carry an idea from proof of concept to full market readiness," she said.

McLeod further stressed the importance of communications as a significant and strategic input into a go-to-market strategy.

"These companies have developed valuable strategic technologies at a moment in time when there is pressure to move quickly with purpose. Innovation Advisory is designed to offer the in-house expertise needed to help them capture market opportunities. Communications as a significant and strategic input into a go-to-market strategy is often poorly understood and lacking focus," McLeod explained.

McLeod also highlighted how Innovation Advisory can step in to help quality founders share their brilliance with the right people.

"Quite often these deep tech founders have spent considerable time, energy and resources prioritising technical innovation to reach key development milestones. When it comes to the point of building a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy is where Innovation Advisory can step in to help quality founders share their brilliance with the right people," she said.

The firm is headquartered in Sydney with an office in Canberra.
