ING and Menulog partner on free delivery in cost-of-living play for Aussies

ING and Menulog have joined forces to offer eligible customers with Orange Everyday and Savings Maximiser accounts six months of unlimited free delivery for orders over $20 with Menulog.

The offer, available from 8 October 2024, comes as new research from ING reveals that 75% of Australians who used food delivery services in the last 12 months have had to cut back due to the rising cost of living.

Non-ING customers can also take advantage of the offer by signing up for both an Orange Everyday and Savings Maximiser account before 24 November 2024. The partnership aims to alleviate some of the financial pressures faced by Australians, with ING's research indicating two in five Australians admit food delivery services bring enjoyment to their lives, and 68% are more likely to order if there are no delivery fees involved.

"It's clear from the research that many Aussies are tightening their belts and foregoing on things that bring them joy. This new offer builds on our overall benefits package which aims to alleviate some of the costs of living pressures," said Dina Kotsopoulos, Head of Daily Banking at ING. "From free unlimited Menulog delivery for six months on eligible orders, to no ING international transaction fees and up to 1% cash back on utility bills for eligible customers, there are many ways we're helping customers during these challenging times. We know Aussies love their food delivery, so we're very excited to be kicking this partnership off."

The partnership comes at a time when a third of full-time workers order multiple times per week, and 14% of Australians disagree that it's cheaper for them to buy ingredients to cook a meal from scratch than it is to order from a food delivery app. Almost half of all Australians who have reduced ordering from food delivery services due to the cost of living, say they'd ideally like to do it at least once a week.

"As the only locally founded on-demand delivery platform, Menulog is thrilled to be partnering with ING to deliver greater value to customers all over Australia. We recognise the power of delivery in providing ease and convenience for all Australians. That's why we're excited for this partnership to help maximise savings in every Aussie household, to deliver a bit of joy, no matter what you're in the mood for," said Simon Cheng, Marketing Director at Menulog.

The partnership is particularly significant for millennials, with 51% admitting they have given up or reduced the amount they spend on food delivery due to the cost of living. ING is Australia's fifth largest main financial institution (MFI) with 6% of market share.
