Nine shuffles Melbourne leadership as Matt James moves into group role
After four years as Nine Melbourne managing director, Matt James is transitioning into a senior strategy role within the wider Nine Group.
The move will see James working closely with Matt Stanton and Dave Ash as part of the Transformation Team. James, who has previously served as Managing Director of Mi9 and Group Director of Powered, brings 35 years of global media experience to his new strategic role.
In the wake of James' transition, Andrea Salmon will assume an expanded role as Director of Sales and Managing Director of Nine Melbourne. Salmon, who has over 20 years of experience in senior media roles, including leadership positions at Southern Cross Austereo and Bauer (ACP), will continue to report to Michael Stephenson.
"After four years of successful leadership, Matt James will be moving into a senior strategy role across the wider Nine Group, working closely with myself and Dave Ash in strategy as part of the Transformation Team," said Nine acting CEO Matt Stanton in a note to staff.
Salmon will be tasked with strengthening the collaboration across Nine's local assets, including Channel 9, 3AW, The Age, and the local AFR bureau. "She’ll lead our efforts to strengthen the collaboration across our local assets, including Channel 9, 3AW, The Age, and the local AFR bureau," Stanton said.
In Melbourne, the reporting structure will remain unchanged with Radio continuing to report to Tom Malone, Publishing to Tory Maguire, Television to Michael Healy, and Sales to Michael Stephenson.
