Countrytown appoints Megan Hopkins as content director
Country music platform, Countrytown, has named Megan Hopkins as its new content director, effective from Monday 25 November.
Hopkins joins the publication, part of the SGC Media stable alongside titles like TheMusic.com.au, from Kix Country, where she previously served as the digital content manager.
"Having the opportunity to steer the editorial direction of Australia's most influential country music publication is a dream come true. The Countrytown Hot 50 is the bible for Australian country artists every week and I look forward to using the platform to continue converting mainstream Australians to country music. Countrytown is here to bring Nashville to Australia and send Australia to Nashville. I am excited to shine a light on the best local and international talent and platform everything that's great about truly great artists telling their stories through their songs," said Hopkins.
CEO of SGC Media, Stephen Green, said: "The opportunity to work with Megan is one that I am still pinching myself over. Not only is she one of the world's great humans, but she has incredible musical ears and is a true tastemaker in every sense of the word. She has dedicated her life to the genre and if there's an artist she hasn't heard or an event she hasn't attended, you can bet it's already on her to-do list. As we run head first into 2025 there's nobody I trust more with the Countrytown brand and I'm genuinely excited about what we can achieve together."
The appointment of Hopkins comes as SGC Media prepares its plans for 2025, which includes the recent acquisition of Where To Network. It first launched the Countrytown platform in 2021.
