NSW, SA governments to bring together experts, policymakers, and community voices for two-day Social Media Summit
The New South Wales (NSW) and South Australian (SA) Governments have partnered to jointly host a two-day Social Media Summit across Sydney and Adelaide this week.
The brings together a lineup of local and international experts, policymakers, academics, young people, and community voices to discuss the impacts of social media and explore potential solutions to arising concerns.
Key speakers in Sydney include NSW Premier Chris Minns and SA Premier Peter Malinauskas, San Diego State University professor of psychology Dr Jean Twenge, data scientist and former Facebook product manager Frances Haugen.
Other experts will appear on panels throughout the day, including federal eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant, NSW Ministry of Health Chief Psychiatrist Dr Murray Wright, editor of The Sunday Telegraph and Saturday Telegraph Anns Caldwell, NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant and others.
In Adelaide, keynote speakers will include Director-General of Security Mike Burgess, former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia Robert French AM, and social psychologist at New York University’s Stern School of Business Dr Jonathan Haidt. Panelists will include Principal of Saint Ignatius’ College Lauren Brooks , founder and CEO of The Carly Ryan Foundation Sonya Ryan OAM and President of Children and Media Australia Professor Elizabeth Handsley.
