Nine's Paralympic coverage attracts 7.8 million Australians, boosts streaming platform

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, broadcast by Nine, has attracted a National TV Reach of 7.8 million Australians over its first five days.

At the halfway market, Nine's streaming platform, 9Now, has contributed a 13% incremental reach to Broadcast TV, making it the No. 1 CFTA BVOD platform since the Games began on August 29.

Nine said the combination of live broadcast, live streaming and on-demand television has delivered partners, sponsors and major package holders a significant audience. Nine’s broadcast so far has attracted a Metro TV Reach of 4.4 million viewers; a Regional TV Reach of 2.4 million and 1.3 million viewers reached via 9Now. To date, the Paralympics has resulted in 9Now recording a total of 97 million views.

Australia is currently ranked sixth on the Medal Tally at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Day 5 of the games saw several medals won by Australian athletes, including Gold for Lauren Parker in the Triathlon; Women’s PTWC and the Swimming Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay. Silver medals were won by Jamieson Leeson and Daniel Michel in their Boccia finals; Jake Michel in his 100m Breastroke final and Bronze medals were won by The Steelers wheelchair rugby team and Javelin Throw F64 Michal Burian.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games can be watched live on a curated channel across Channel 9HD and 9GemHD, with all events streamed on 9Now.

"The Paralympics has again reinforced the powerhouse of Total Television for audiences and brands. Our independent interim insight report has already shown that the Paris Olympics and now the Paralympic Games, are delivering brand awareness results significantly above any other major event benchmark," said Matt Granger, Nine’s Director of Sales - Sports.

"With more extraordinary para athlete performances and stories to come, there are more opportunities for our partner brands to benefit from this incredible association within Nine’s coverage of the Paralympic Games."
