Acclaimed Droga5 strategist Sean La'Brooy returns to Australia, joins Akcelo

Acclaimed strategist Sean La'Brooy is joining independent brand experience agency Akcelo as Group Strategy Director. La'Brooy is returning to Australia after a five-year stint at Droga5 New York.

During his time with Droga5, he held senior strategy roles and worked on major projects including the global brand strategy for Meta, Super Bowl spots for Molson Coors, and global pitch wins for Xbox, Levi’s, Coors Light, and Tourism Australia.

Prior to this, La'Brooy spent three years at JWT as a Data and Insights Strategist, working with Simon McCrudden, now Strategy Partner at Akcelo.

McCrudden praised La'Brooy's approach, saying, "Sean fuses super insightful, data-driven thinking with expansive brand and creative strategies, always looking beyond traditional ways of thinking to deliver effective solutions for clients across all touchpoints. He also makes a mean martini."

La'Brooy expressed his excitement about the new role, stating, "I’m thrilled to be joining Akcelo after years of admiring their modern and innovative approach to making an impact for clients. It’s fantastic to be back on home soil and be given the chance to help drive their continued success."

Dave Di Veroli, Chief Strategy Officer at Akcelo, and Aden Hepburn, Akcelo CEO, both expressed their enthusiasm about La'Brooy's appointment, highlighting his experience, accolades, and reputation as a boost to Akcelo's strategic capability and future growth.

In his new role, La'Brooy will work across Akcelo’s Australian and North American offices and global client roster, including McDonald’s, TikTok, and Asahi Beverages.
