OpenAI and Reddit have announced a partnership that will see ChatGPT and new products applied to Reddit's content, as well as introduce the AI tech company as an advertising partner for the community forum.

The collaboration will see OpenAI bring enhanced Reddit content to ChatGPT and new products, while gaining access to Reddit's Data API, which provides real-time, structured, and unique content from Reddit. OpenAI said this will allow its AI tools to better understand and showcase Reddit content, particularly on recent topics.

The partnership will also allow Reddit to introduce new AI-powered features to its editors and moderators. Reddit will be building on OpenAI's platform of AI models to bring its vision to life. OpenAI will also become a Reddit advertising partner.

The partnership was led by OpenAI's COO and approved by its independent Board of Directors.

"We are thrilled to partner with Reddit to enhance ChatGPT with uniquely timely and relevant information, and to explore the possibilities to enrich the Reddit experience with AI-powered features," OpenAI's COO, Brad Lightcap, said.

Reddit's Co-Founder and CEO, Steve Huffman, saw AI bring new content search and engagement to the platform.

"Reddit has become one of the internet's largest open archives of authentic, relevant, and always up to date human conversations about anything and everything. Including it in ChatGPT upholds our belief in a connected internet, helps people find more or what they're looking for, and helps new audiences find community on Reddit," he said.
