New era takes flight.
Qantas Group appoints Andrew Glance as new CEO for loyalty
The Qantas Group has announced the appointment of Andrew Glance as the new CEO for its Loyalty business unit, replacing Olivia Wirth, who is leaving the airline after six years overseeing its customer loyalty program division.
Glance is currently serving as the Executive Manager of Commercial Partnerships and Qantas Business Rewards and has held several senior roles within Qantas Loyalty since 2016. Prior to his tenure in the Loyalty division, Glance held senior finance positions across the organisation, including flight operations and inflight services, since joining Qantas in 2002.
This appointment follows the resignation of Wirth in October 2023. Glance will transition to his new role, which includes becoming part of the Qantas Group Leadership Team, once Wirth departs at the end of February 2024.
"Andrew has a deep understanding of the Loyalty business having been part of that leadership team for many years, as well as the organisation more broadly given he's also worked in several other parts of the Group," said Qantas Group CEO, Vanessa Hudson. She also praised Glance's leadership across growing points-earning opportunities for members, particularly through financial services, which she said has "strengthened the program overall".
"In the process, he's developed a very strong understanding of what drives success for Loyalty, both for our customers and commercial partners," Hudson continued. "Ultimately, what members of our Frequent Flyer program want is the ability to earn points in lots of different ways and convert them into great travel experiences. That's what the strategy for Loyalty is focused on delivering."
Hudson outlined the strategic focus of the Loyalty program has an emphasis on expanding into hotels and holiday packages, the addition of more partner airlines, and the investment in making more reward seats available during the European summer. She hinted at further improvements to be announced in the coming months.
Glance expressed his enthusiasm for his new role.
"Qantas Loyalty is a fantastic business that delivers a lot of value to its members and corporate partners, and I look forward to leading the team to build on that," he said.
