Acquia bolsters digital experience platform with Monsido acquisition

Acquia, a digital experience platform vendor, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Monsido, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform known for its website accessibility and optimisation solutions.

The acquisition is expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of Acquia's digital experience platform, Acquia DXP.

Monsido's platform aids customers in monitoring and improving website accessibility, content quality and governance, SEO, data privacy, and performance. The acquisition of Monsido from CivicPlus, a leader in integrated technology solutions for the public sector, is positioned as a strategic move for Acquia. CivicPlus will continue to serve its U.S. local government customers as a reseller of the Monsido platform.

The Monsido team, including two co-founders and members based in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Denmark, have joined Acquia as part of the acquisition.

Steve Reny, President and CEO of Acquia, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition.

"Making accessibility and compliance core to Acquia DXP supports our mission of building an inclusive digital future, and enables our customers to provide web experiences that serve all of their users. We are delighted to welcome the Monsido team to Acquia and look forward to bringing the Monsido platform and its capabilities to more organisations globally," he said.

The acquisition comes at a time when website accessibility is a pressing issue. A recent IDC report found fewer than 10% of websites are fully accessible across visual, auditory, and cognitive disabilities. With the integration of Monsido, Acquia said it now offers a solution for building, managing, and delivering websites that comply with WCAG and web accessibility legislation.

Monsido is compatible with any content management system (CMS), including Drupal, the open source CMS that forms the foundation of Acquia DXP. It is available as part of Acquia DXP or as a standalone offering.
