From newsroom to agency: Amie Meehan joins In The Media PR as campaign director
Former 2GB Ben Fordham’s breakfast newsreader, Amie Meehan, is switching media for agency and is joining In The Media PR as a Campaign Director.
Meehan is a seasoned radio professional with 18 years' experience and a three-time winner of the Australian Commercial Radio Award for Best News Presenter AM. She's worked alongside Ben Fordham, Ray Hadley and regularly rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jackie O and high profile celebrities, and has covered topics from the Queen's death to natural disasters and state and federal elections.
Meehan will now steer the strategic direction of campaigns for In The Media PR, an agency composed of former journalists that boasts a diverse client portfolio including Airtasker, Royal Hospital for Women Foundation, Heart Research Institute, and the Alceon Property Group. Meehan's role will involve developing strategy with clients, overseeing its execution, and presenting Media Training workshops, a new service offered at the agency, alongside fellow Campaign Director, Laura Tunstall, who is a previous reporter for A Current Affair and 9 News.
"I’m excited about this move and joining such an experienced team. I’ll still be using my journalistic skills to tell stories, but in this case helping companies stand out in a media environment that’s often saturated with content and noise," Meehan said. "The alarm won’t be set to 3.30am anymore but I’ll still be up early. The agency is run like a newsroom with the whole team on deck by 7.30am ensuring client stories are pitched in time for early editorial meetings."
The agency said Meehan's move also highlights the growing trend of flexible work arrangements in the industry.
"The continued focus on self and career development, as well as the flexibility provided at In The Media PR, enabling me to work remotely, also attracted me to the role," Meehan added.
In The Media PR co-directors Oryana Angel and Janyne Moore expressed their confidence in Meehan's fit for the team.
"We are different to traditional agencies in that we are a full team of former journalists - we still have the newsroom mindset and we approach our work with that same energy. This really shows in the results we are achieving for our clients," Angel said.
In The Media PR was established nearly a decade ago by co-directors Moore, a former Ray Hadley Morning Show Executive Producer and capital city news reader, and Angel, a print journalist who wrote for the Daily Telegraph, The Australian and Qantas magazine.
