Gerety Awards 2024 open for nominations, Saatchi & Saatchi Australia CCO appointed A/NZ jury president
The Gerety Awards, named after Frances Gerety, the copywriter who famously coined the slogan 'A diamond is forever', have opened their doors for 2024 entries.
The awards aim to redefine advertising standards by selecting the best in the industry from a unique perspective, have announced a new focus on sustainability for this year's event.
This year's Australia/New Zealand (AUNZ) executive jury session will be presided over by Ambassador and Jury President Mandie van der Merwe, the newly appointed CCO at Saatchi&Saatchi Australia. The Gerety Awards have also announced 15 locations for the executive jury sessions, including New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Madrid, Warsaw, São Paulo, AUNZ, LATAM, East Asia, and the Middle East.
Each executive jury session will select the agency and production company of the year from their respective countries, chosen from the entrants of the Portfolio Cut.
A new addition to the 2024 awards is the special attention that will be given to entries submitted into the 'Works for Good' Cut. The highest scoring campaign for environmental and sustainability will be awarded with a special award named the 'Gerety Earth Prize'.
Global CEO of Grey Group, Laura Maness, expressed her anticipation for the awards.
"As we gather to celebrate innovation and excellence at the Gerety Awards, I'm eagerly anticipating groundbreaking initiatives, particularly those that harness creativity to solve real business problems and champion sustainable growth," she said. "The 'Gerety Earth Prize' embodies the essence of impactful work that not only inspires but also transforms our world for the better."
Amani Duncan, a Grand Jury member, echoed these sentiments and said she's delighted to be part of the judging this year.
"I am honoured to contribute to a quest for creative excellence reshaping advertising standards on a global scale with a powerful perspective that only the Gerety Awards jury can offer. The introduction of the Gerety Earth Prize this year adds an extra dimension to our pursuit, recognising work that not only captivates minds but also champions sustainability, reflecting the values that define our collective future," she said.
