Rolling Stone ANZ unveils 'Icons issue' celebrating 50 living legends

Rolling Stone ANZ, under the publishing umbrella of The Brag Media, has unveiled its annual collector's edition, the 'Icons Issue'. This special edition celebrates 50 living icons from Australia and Aotearoa, spanning the realms of music, screen, and comedy. The issue is set to hit newsstands and Coles stores from Monday, December 4, 2023.

The 'Icons Issue' features a diverse range of artists, actors, producers, and comedians. Among the music icons are John Farnham, Iggy Azalea, and Rosé from Blackpink. The screen industry is represented by the likes of Margot Robbie, Deborah Mailman, Lee Lin Chin, and Taika Waititi, while the comedy scene sees Chris Lilley, Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes, and Rose Matafeo making the list.

Poppy Reid, Editor-in-chief at The Brag Media, said: 'Rolling Stone AU/NZ is renowned for its lists and we take the responsibility of anointing the most worthy entertainment careerists and cultural impact drivers very seriously. With the weight of the industry we want to champion on our shoulders, we find gravity in helping to export local talent to the rest of the world. And so, as we gathered our team and a selection of industry experts, we debated, examined, pondered and shared tense moments as we went back and forth questioning what makes an Icon, the kind of impact they have on culture and if career longevity matters. We also added consistent relevancy, innovation, accolades and global influence to our ‘must-have’ criteria. Our very first ‘Icons Issue’ is a celebration of broken boundaries, shattered ceilings and opened doors, proving brilliance knows no borders. Here’s to the power of creativity, innovation and influence.'

The unveiling of the 'Icons Issue' comes as Rolling Stone Australia's average issue readership has seen an increase of 14.5% to 229,000 for the 12 months to June 2023. This marks a fifth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth for the publication.

The Brag Media, the publisher behind Rolling Stone AU/NZ, represents a portfolio of iconic titles including Rolling Stone, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Tone Deaf, The Music Network, Enthusiast Gaming, Life Without Andy, HypeBeast and more.
