Bluey's global impact celebrated: UK's Australia House rebranded for a day

In unique recognition of the global success of the Australian show 'Bluey', the Australia House in the UK was renamed 'Bluey House' for a day.

The 24-hour rebrand was enacted as the Australian High Commissioner presented 'Bluey' with a 'Special Recognition Award for Cultural Impact across the UK and the World' at Australia House in London. The building was adorned with Bluey flags and a temporary front door reflecting the heritage Queenslander with wraparound balcony that Bluey's family resides in.

Bluey also made a surprise visit, accompanied by a marching band playing the title music of the show, on the same day as the London Marathon. The event was part of a celebration organised by BBC Studios to market the launch of the new 7-minute episode 'Surprise', which has just been released in Australia, the UK, and the US. It also comes a week after another episode, 'The Sign', sparked fears the show was about to end.

According to various media reports, British families have spent more than 110 million hours interacting with the Bluey show's toys, video games, and live events.

"What an incredible accolade for an Australian born show that has truly become part of the world's cultural zeitgeist," said president of BBC Studios brands and licensing, Nicki Sheard. "We are thrilled to have created experiences that have unlocked family time and opened the magical world of Bluey for fans across the world of all ages."

The show's creator, Joe Brumm, said it was an honour to receive this award on behalf of everyone who helped bring Bluey to life.

"Our beautiful country is a character in the show just as much as any of the dogs, so to have brought it into the living rooms of the whole world, encouraging people to come and visit is something I'll always be proud of," he said.

"Bluey's phenomenal success in the UK and globally is testament to the ingenuity and artistry of Australia's creative industries," said Australian High Commissioner Stephen Smith. "Bluey highlights the power of Australian stories to resonate with children and parents the world over."
