Morris charts new course.
Former ABC, Bastion director Gaven Morris to leads corporate affairs for Commonwealth Bank of Australia
Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has appointed Gaven Morris, former Director of News, Analysis and Investigations at ABC, as its new Executive General Manager Corporate Affairs, commencing 29 July.
Morris has more than 30 years' experience in media, consulting and education, having previously been responsible for the ABC's daily television and radio news output as Head of News Content, a role in which he helmed the launch of the ABC News Channel and oversaw the public broadcaster's shift to a cross-platform audience service. He was also previously part of the senior team to launch Al Jazeera English.
After leaving the ABC in 2021, Morris joined Bastion, where as the founder and Managing Director of the independent agency group's content and digital strategy arm, Bastion Transform.
CBA's Group Executive, Monique Macleod, said: “I’m delighted that Gaven will be joining the Commonwealth Bank team. As well as being a highly respected journalist and news executive, he also has a wealth of experience leading high performing teams in fast-paced environments and through complex and rapid change. This expertise, combined with his ability to engage diverse audiences and his strong personal values, will be an outstanding asset to the team.”
