As ecommerce swells to 10% of global GDP, Adobe Commerce Cloud gets an AI powered upgrade

With global ecommerce now worth more than 11 trillion dollars, Adobe unveiled the latest upgrade to its Commerce Cloud.

According to US based Ed Kennedy, senior product marketing manager, "Ecommerce globally is forecast to reach almost $6 trillion this year. And that's just B2C. If you add in the potential five or six trillion dollars in B2B commerce, then the overall digital commerce sales could reach 10 per cent of GDP worldwide this year, that's a huge number."

Kennedy said he has notice, "... companies getting kind obsessed and somewhat fanatical or even religious about the technology architecture that they're selecting when approaching a new ecommerce project."

"And while the technology architecture is critical, you must have a composable solution. A lot of companies are starting to get away from the core best practices of digital commerce, which is the experience that you're delivering to the consumer, or the business buyer and the data that you have available at your disposal to personalise the experience. That's why this release is focused on AI powered personalization and simplify composable development tools."

For instance, Adobe now supports different AI rules for different search queries in its site search solution (Live Search) including blanket "default rules" for all queries and specific algorithmic strategies for merchandiser configured queries.

Adobe says the upgrade includes changes that simplify composable development with enhanced webhook and Admin UI extension tools in App Builder. The site search solution, Live Search, now supports different AI rules for different search queries, including blanket 'default rules' for all queries and specific algorithmic strategies for merchandise configured queries.

Among the other elements of the upgrade , Payment Services for Adobe Commerce now supports headless deployments of Adobe Commerce, including Adobe Experience Manager. And Adobe has also launched a joint subscription management solution with Zuora and IBM Consulting using their verified composable architecture (App Builder).

Upcoming features include a lightning-fast storefront using Edge Delivery Services for Commerce, streamlined product image and video distribution via integration to Adobe Assets, mobile app and headless commerce tracking for personalised commerce journeys, new B2B commerce features, support for Google Pay digital wallets, pre-built integrations to Microsoft F&O and SAP S/4Hana. A beta version of Adobe's Core platform will be released in March, including support for 100k active promotions, 10M active coupon codes, and improved GraphQL performance.
