Rebecca Darley exits Domain for new gig, to replace John Casey as TPG Telecom CMO

TPG Telecom has appointed Domain's chief marketing officer Rebecca Darley as the telecoms new top marketer, with a remit that spans Vodafone, TPG, felix, iiNet, and Lebara.

Darley's appointment follows the decision of John Casey, the current chief marketing officer, to step back from his role.

"John is an incredible leader who has made a massive contribution to our culture, our commercial performance and the strength of our stable of great Australian brands," said Group Executive, Consumer and Data & Analytics at TPG Telecom, Kieren Cooney.

Darley will step into the new role on Monday 16 December 2024, at which point she would have spent nearly three years Nine Entertainment's property platform.

"I'm so excited to have Rebecca joining our team. She is a powerful advocate for the customer and an enthusiastic, innovative and creative leader - a perfect fit for the senior leadership team here at TPG Telecom," said Cooney.

The move marks Darley's return to the telecommunications sector, having previously spent a year at Vodafone in 2006, under its former ownership. She has also previously held senior marketing roles at Commonwealth Bank investment subsidiary Commsec, Westpac Group, IKEA, and Aussie Home Loans.

"I worked at Vodafone 15 years ago - and loved it. And now to return as the Chief Marketing Officer at TPG Telecom is hugely exciting. TPG Telecom has an incredible portfolio of brands, led by an exceptional team that's built such a fantastic culture. It is an opportunity I couldn't resist - I can't wait to get stuck in!" said Darley.

Darley's appointment comes at a pivotal time for TPG Telecom as the company plans to more than double its mobile network by early 2025, following clearance from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for a regional network sharing deal with Optus. "Rebecca is joining the business at a crucial time as we prepare for our biggest and best ever year in 2025," Cooney said.

Commenting on Darley's departure, Domain Group CEO Jason Pellegrino said: “Bec has been a valued member of the Domain Leadership Team, uplifting our capabilities across Marketing, Media & ESG, and recently bringing together the new Consumer Division. Under Bec’s leadership, we’ve delivered strong and continued unique audience growth across Domain Group, transformed our martech stack, grown our Domain Media business, and established our long-term ESG Strategy. In deserved recognition, the Domain Marketing Team was a finalist for 2024 Marketing Team of the Year, the Domain PR team was named 2024 PR Team of the Year and Bec was a finalist for Women in Media’s 2024 ‘Executive Leader of the Year’. Likewise, Bec’s work to establish our new Consumer Division sets the foundation for our future ambitions. I thank Bec for her contributions and wish her every success in the future."

Darley added: “I couldn’t be more proud of what has been achieved at Domain Group in almost three years. I’ve been fortunate to work with an incredible team and we’ve made a significant impact on our customers and across the business. I am very grateful to Jason Pellegrino, the Domain Board, and the Domain team for their support and guidance.”
