Foot Locker steps up to champion women's basketball in Australia

Global footwear and apparel retailer, Foot Locker, has signed on as a major partner for the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL), in a move to champion women's sports and amplify the growing momentum of basketball in Australia.

Foot Locker will host the WNBL season launch at its new 'Foot Locker Reimagined' concept store in Melbourne Central on Wednesday, October 23rd. Throughout the WNBL season, the retailer's branding will be featured across digital platforms, in-stadium branding, and promotional campaigns. Fans can expect exclusive game-day activations, LED signage, and floor decals at every match.

Foot Locker will also receive significant media exposure with activity and promotions during every WNBL game broadcast. Foot Locker will be featured on the WNBL's website, in email marketing campaigns, and across a dedicated social media series. The company will explore fan engagement through game-day activations, including exclusive voucher giveaways and integration into the WNBL awards program.

Bec Cole, reigning WNBL and NBL1 National Champion and captain of the Southside Flyers, said: "I'm really excited to see Foot Locker stepping up as a major partner for the WNBL. In the NBL1, we always push hard to win the 'Foot Locker Player of the Week' voucher because we are such sneakerheads. I can't wait to see how Foot Locker elevates our league and inspires even more motivation in current and future players."

Vice President and General Manager of Foot Locker Asia Pacific, Natalie Ellis, sees the partnership as a natural extension of Foot Locker's dedication to basketball globally and in the Pacific region. "We've been deeply ingrained with the basketball community for years, and this investment ensures that the WNBL and its athletes will receive the visibility and recognition they deserve. Through this partnership, Foot Locker celebrates the extraordinary talent within the WNBL while also inspiring the next generation of female basketball talent."

Head of the WNBL, Christy Collier-Hill, said: "Their dedication to basketball in Australia mirrors our ambition to elevate the game and provide a platform for our athletes to shine. This partnership will not only boost the visibility of the league but also create unique opportunities for fans to engage with the sport. We look forward to working together to make a lasting impact on women's basketball in Australia."

This partnership follows Foot Locker's recent sponsorship of the Australian men's national team, the Boomers, and its longstanding support of the NBL, NBL1, Australian Junior Championships, Schools Championships, U18s Club Championships, and globally recognised streetball event Summer Jam.
