Bunnings Warehouse beats out Kmart for top spot at All Star Bash retail awards

Bunnings Warehouse has claimed the top spot in Australian online retail awards, the All Star Bash, moving up from fourth place last year to surpass last year's winner, Kmart, which now sits in third place, and JB Hi-Fi, which holds the second spot.

Hosted by Power Retail, the All Star Bash awards event took place at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne, with attendance from over 800 online retail businesses.

The Top 100 Online Retailers, part of Power Retail's rolling Top 500 Online Retailer Rankings, comprises a mix of pureplay and omnichannel retailers. Notable moves in the rankings include Ikea jumping from #15 to #11 and Temple & Webster rising to #9 from #21.

Power Retail Head of Data, David Fear, said: "With an estimated market share of 50% in the DIY and home improvements space, Bunnings consistently ranked highest across categories of site performance, accessibility, payment and delivery options, traffic, and mobile app excellence, making them the most successful retailer in 2023."

Global Marketplace Executive Director, Grant Arnott, said: "Bunnings has been a strong contender for the top spot in recent years, the introduction of more accessible loyalty rewards in OnePass and FlyBuys have helped boost their latest retention score. In addition, we have included NPS as a part of our rankings to allow for customer sentiment to play a part in the scores - Bunnings ranked 11th in the country with an NPS of 57. This indicates that shoppers are so happy with their online shopping experience at Bunnings that they are highly likely to recommend the brand to family and friends. Word of mouth recommendations are so invaluable in this landscape and was something we couldn’t ignore when making our final rankings."

Power Retail's ranking methodology analyses retailer performance across four key dimensions of the consumer lifecycle: Acquisition, Conversion, Fulfilment and Retention. The Retail Performance Scorecard, a system that drills into the key data points in the online retail space, is used to identify where retailers are succeeding and where they can improve.
