Slack introduces 'Lists' to boost productivity and streamline task management

Workplace collaboration platform Slack is rolling out a new project and task management tool called 'Lists' to its paid customers.

The new feature, which will commence rollout from today, aims to centralise deadlines, responsibilities, and other critical information, enhancing the platform's functionality and providing a more streamlined workflow for teams.

'Lists' integrates seamlessly with other Slack features such as Workflow Builder and Canvas, providing a comprehensive toolset for project management. It offers custom fields for assignees, due dates, statuses, and priorities, along with templates for users to delegate tasks and keep their teams on track.

CEO of Slack, Denise Dresser, said: "With lists, you can turn conversations in Slack into actionable tasks that drives work forward. Now those loose next steps shared in a project channel can be tracked across a team. With project management in Slack, teams across organisations will have everything they need to complete projects faster and increase productivity using the full power of Slack."

'Lists' are customisable and can be used for managing projects, triaging requests, team planning, and personal to-do's. The feature is designed to bring project and task management directly into Slack, eliminating the need for toggling between apps and websites. Research shows that average users switch between programs and websites nearly 1,200 times each day, spending about four hours reorienting themselves to each new site. 'Lists' aims to eliminate this context switching, allowing teams to collaborate and stay aligned on cross-functional projects, approvals, and more, right in the flow of work.

Lori Drake from Marriott Digital Services, who participated in the 'Lists' pilot, said: "Our team was offered the opportunity to participate in the lists pilot and jumped at it. We're excited to use lists to manage projects and track requests, and think lists could unlock significant time savings for our team."
