Christmas magic sails.
Myer's Christmas windows share a wildlife journey with the Irwins
Myer's 69th Christmas Windows at its flagship store in Melbourne are taking Australians on a journey with the country's beloved Wildlife Warriors, the Irwin family.
Titled 'An Irwin’s Christmas Story', the windows will follow Ace the Eagle across a six-part journey, blending holiday magic with the heart of the outback. The story will feature lifelike figures of Terri, Robert, and Bindi Irwin, along with a variety of animals.
The Myer Christmas Windows have been a part of Australian Christmas tradition since 1956. This year's windows, brought to life by Creative and Technical Director John Kerr in his 31st year with the project, have been in the works for over 12 months. The build includes 50 animated actions, 30 distinct animal figures, lifelike figures of the Irwin family, custom-built animatronics, and scenic elements and props.
"Myer’s Christmas Windows have been a beloved tradition for generations, and this year we’re excited to partner with Australia’s favourite Wildlife Warriors, the Irwin family and Australia Zoo. Our Christmas Windows continue to draw visitors from near and far, creating lasting memories and making Myer an unmissable part of our Aussie holiday season,” said Geoff Ikin, Chief Customer Officer, Myer.
The Christmas Windows will also be celebrated with an activation on Level 6 in Mural Hall, Myer Melbourne, featuring Christmas at the Crocoseum, a commissioned production from Terrapin Theatre Company based on the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warrior Show. The Myer Christmas Windows & Instore Retail Activation opened Sunday, 17 November and close on Saturday, 5 January.
"We’re thrilled to see the spirit of our family and Australia Zoo come to life in Myer’s Christmas Windows! This collaboration is a wonderful opportunity to share our passion for wildlife with the community and inspire a sense of wonder during the festive season. Through this captivating display, we hope to deepen people's connection to the wonder of wildlife and wild places, while emphasising the importance of conservation. We can’t wait for everyone to experience the joy and excitement of Christmas with Australia Zoo!” said Terri Irwin.
Myer operates 56 department stores across Australia and is committed to being Australia’s favourite department store. Australia Zoo is a world-renowned zoological facility and leader in the conservation of wildlife and wild places.
