Retail Food Group launches Donut King Occasions in Queensland

Retail Food Group (RFG) has rolled out its e-commerce solution, Donut King Occasions, across Queensland. Approximately half of the state's Donut King stores have adopted the service, which provides an additional revenue stream for franchise partners with minimal additional labour and no extra rent. Participating stores effectively become mini factories, with the e-commerce solution directing orders to the nearest store to minimise delivery costs.

Donut King Occasions targets unique events such as birthdays, baby showers, and corporate morning teas. The Average Transaction Value for Donut King Occasions is reported to be 3.8 times higher than in-store transactions. The service is set to launch in Queensland stores in June, followed by a staged national launch in July and August.

RFG, which owns 11 brands including Donut King, has 1300 global trading outlets across 33 countries, 743 of which are in Australia. In its most recent half-yearly financial report, RFG reported a 1.7 per cent dip in network sales to $254.8m, but a 4.7 per cent lift in average transaction value. RFG's underlying revenue was $53.4 million, while EBITDA was up 4 per cent to $15.4m. In December, RFG acquired Beefy's Pies, and its coffee, café and bakery brands represent 70 per cent of total revenue.
