News Corp's 'The Missing Australia' returns with potential breakthroughs in cold cases
News Corp Australia's on-demand audio arm, NewsCast, is set to launch the third season of its true crime podcast, 'The Missing Australia'. The podcast, which investigates unsolved missing persons cases across the country, is released under News Corp Australia’s True Crime Australia arm and is supported by extensive editorial coverage and video across The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Courier-Mail and The Advertiser in print and digital.
Every year in Australia, 38,000 missing persons reports are made. While many are found, thousands are left with no answers. The host of 'The Missing Australia' podcast is former policeman Meni Caroutas. Season three of 'The Missing Australia' will detail potential breakthroughs in two cold cases that were featured on the last season of the podcast in 2023.
These cases include potentially identifying an unnamed child’s body that has lain in a cemetery in Darwin, NT, for decades, and several new witnesses coming forward in relation to the suspected abduction of a 16-year-old girl. Subscribers of the News Corp Australia’s state mastheads and CrimeX+ in Apple Podcasts will have first access to episodes of 'The Missing Australia' as they are released each Sunday.
"Meni’s sense of justice and passion to find answers for these families is what drives this podcast,” said Dan Box, NewsCast’s Editorial Director, Audio. “I’m proud of what he has achieved, and that we have been able to give him the production support to take that work to a wider audience through News Corp Australia’s mastheads and our industry-leading CrimeX channel on Apple Podcasts.”
Meni Caroutas, host of 'The Missing Australia', nodded to the listeners who have come forward with information about these cases. “I want to express gratitude to all our listeners who have come forward with information about these cases. Their bravery and dedication are making a real difference. And to anyone out there who may have information about a missing person, remember, someone, somewhere, knows something!”
