Tech Council CEO Kate Pounder steps down, search for successor underway

Kate Pounder, CEO of the Tech Council of Australia (TCA), has announced her resignation effective from 2nd February 2024. The decision comes as Pounder seeks to limit her travel commitments and remain in Canberra due to a family health matter.

TCA Board Chair, Robyn Denholm, has lauded Pounder's efforts in establishing the TCA as a key industry body and elevating the profile of Australia's tech sector.

"Over the last three years Kate has worked tirelessly to ensure that the tech sector has a strong and unified voice on the national stage. She has built a formidable team, bringing together policy, advocacy and building a large and diverse member ecosystem. The Board thanks Kate for her contribution and looks forward to her remaining a close ally of the sector," said Denholm.

Pounder has been instrumental in the launch and establishment of the TCA, which now boasts over 160 members and serves as the peak industry body for Australia's tech sector. The TCA's mission is to advise and engage with Australian governments, businesses, and the wider community to support the ongoing creation, development, and adoption of technology across industries.

"I feel so incredibly privileged to have led this organisation for the past three years. I hope to continue to champion the industry in a personal capacity and look forward to watching the organisation grow and continue its impact by elevating and championing our incredible tech sector," said Pounder.

The TCA will host a farewell event for Pounder in late January. In the interim, Ryan Black, Head of Public Policy, will act as CEO during the recruitment process for a new CEO. The search for Pounder's successor is currently underway.
