Interactive appoints Alex Coates as new CEO to spearhead growth strategy

Interactive, an Australian IT service provider, has announced the appointment of Alex Coates as its new CEO.

Coates will lead the executive team and drive Interactive’s growth strategy across its Cloud, Cyber and Systems business units. He takes up the reins from 28th January 2025.

Coates boasts an extensive international experience and a proven track record of driving growth and transformation. She recently served as Managing Director of Datacom Australia, a role she held for over four years. Prior to Datacom, Coates was Chief Operating Officer of Datacom’s ANZ operation. She moved to Australia with Fujitsu in 2008, running large scale operations teams in Canberra and Melbourne in both the public and private sectors.

"I can’t think of a more qualified individual to take on the CEO role at Interactive at this time. Alex brings the perfect mix of industry presence, people leadership, customer focus and cultural alignment," said Brendan Fleiter, Interactive Chairman.

"We have ambitious plans for growth and now is the right time to bring in a new CEO to lead Interactive’s strategic direction."

Coates expressed her excitement about her new role, "As an organisation with a deep purpose centred around people and customers, I am thrilled to lead Interactive in the next stage of its growth."

She also emphasised the company's adaptability, "The DNA of Interactive is core to my strong personal purpose of creating impact for Australian organisations. It is exciting to lead an organisation so well positioned to be able to quickly adjust and deliver on our customers’ evolving needs."

Brendan Fleiter, the current Chairman and Chief Executive of Interactive, will remain Chairman when Coates assumes the role of CEO.
