Cannes Lions 2024: Jury presidents announced, Apple makes debut

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has announced the Jury Presidents for its 2024 edition. The line-up features a diverse range of industry leaders, with a record 15 markets represented and six Presidents based in the Asia-Pacific region – the highest number ever.

Cindy Gallop, a familiar face in the industry, returns as the Jury President for the Glass: The Lion for Change for its 10th edition. This category recognises work that addresses issues of gender inequality or prejudice.

Prasoon Pandey, a previous Lion of St. Mark honouree, has been named the Film Craft Lions President. His appointment marks a significant milestone in the festival's history.

In a first for the festival, Tor Myhren will serve as the Film Lions Jury President, marking the first time Apple has been represented in this capacity. Myhren's appointment is a testament to Apple's growing influence in the creative industry.

Anselmo Ramos, following a series of historic wins in 2023, has been confirmed as the Brand Experience & Activation Lions President. His appointment comes on the back of his impressive track record in the industry.

Debbi Vandeven, representing VML, the world's largest creative agency network, has been announced as the Jury President of the Dan Wieden Titanium Lions. This appointment underscores VML's significant global presence and Vandeven's personal achievements in the industry.

The Cannes Lions festival is now open for awards submissions until 11 April 2024. This year's festival will see the launch of the Luxury & Lifestyle Lions, the retirement of the Mobile Lions, and the introduction of a humour category in the Cultural & Context sections across the Lions.

The festival, which celebrates the best in creative communications and advertising, will take place from 17 to 21 June in Cannes, France.

Simon Cook, CEO of LIONS, commented on the announcement, “Our Jury Presidents play a crucial role in the existence of the Lions. Their knowledge, skills and incredible talent, combined with the commitment and leadership that they will bring to their roles, bring integrity and rigour to the Lions. This is an exceptional line-up of talent from across the world, and we can’t wait to see the work that rises to the top in June.”
