Paramount+ sets the stage for 2025 with new local commissions

Paramount Australia has announced a suite of new local commissions coming to its streaming platform, Paramount+, in 2025, alongside a strong lineup of international content.

Among the highlights of the upcoming year is new original drama series, 'Playing Gracie Darling', produced by Curio Pictures. Created and written by Miranda Nation (Undertow) and directed by Jonathan Brough (Rosehaven, The Family Law), Playing Gracie Darling features an ensemble cast of notable names, including Morgana O'Reilly (The White Lotus Season Three, Friends Like Me) playing Joni, Rudi Dharmalingam (Wakefield, Great Expectations) playing Jay, Celia Pacquola (Rosehaven, Love Me) playing Ruth, Annie Maynard who plays Anita (Upper Middle Bogan, Colin From Accounts) and Anne Tenney (The Castle, A Country Practice) playing Moira, with more announcements to follow.

The murder mystery series will set to uncover the truth 27 years on from when Joni's best friend Gracie Darling first disappeared in a small town during a séance. With another mysterious disappearance, Joni will be forced to confront deep fears of the unknown to find out what really happened to Gracie that fateful night.

Paramount+ has also teamed up with Network 10 and BBC studios Productions Australia to launch 'Ghosts Australia', the first local iteration of the hit British comedy series 'Ghosts'. Also coming to both platforms is the latest series from The Inspired Unemployed, which will see Jack Steele and Matt Ford set out on an adventure travelling across six countries with one mission - to complete 'The List'. The boys will also be back with another season of their debut series The Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers

Also coming in 2025 is Staycation, a feature-length, live action Christmas movie from Ludo, the producers of Bluey. With a nod to the National Lampoon film franchise, the new comedy will see a dysfunctional middleclass family attempt to survive their Christmas break at home, only to find themselves accidentally mixed up with some very dangerous characters.

Meanwhile, the second season of the internationally acclaimed Australian series 'NCIS: Sydney' is set to land on Paramount+ in 2025. The platform will also continue to be the streaming home to Australian football, offering live coverage of every game of the CommBank Matildas and Subway Socceroos, as well as all Men's and Women's A-League matches.

Paramount+ is also set to welcome the highly anticipated original movie 'Star Trek: Section 31' and the all-new original series 'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' in 2025. The platform will also host a collection of exclusive and original international series in 2025, including 'The Madison', 'Dexter: Resurrection', 'NCIS: Tony & Ziva' and CBS original medical drama series 'Watson'.

In addition to its series offerings, Paramount+ will screen new films in 2025, including 'Smile 2', 'A Quiet Place: Day One', 'Gladiator II', 'IF', 'Sonic The Hedgehog 3' and 'Transformers One'.
