Meta's shutters Workplace, Zoom's Workvivo named sole migration partner

Meta is discontinuing its employee engagement platform, Workplace, naming Workvivo by Zoom as its sole preferred migration partner to transition Workplace's 7 million users.

This move will impact a number of high-profile Workplace customers, including McDonald's, Walmart, and Nestle, who will now be supported in their transition to Workvivo.

Workvivo, founded in 2017 and acquired by Zoom in 2023, is a platform designed to enhance the employee experience. It boasts a diverse customer base that includes Dollar General, the Virgin Group, Amazon, and White Castle. As of 2021, Meta's Workplace platform had 7 million users, all of whom will now need to transition to a new platform.

CEO and founder of Workvivo, John Goulding, said: "We know that the news today may be disruptive for Workplace from Meta customers, but we’re so excited about the opportunity to support and help them," Goulding said. "Meta has made a huge impact in this market, and we believe that Workvivo is the natural choice for Workplace from Meta customers to transition their employee experience platform."

Workvivo and Workplace from Meta plan to provide migration tools for customers making the switch. In addition, Workvivo will offer further implementation services at no extra cost to support customers during the transition.

CEO and founder of Zoom, Eric S. Yuan, said: "Since Workvivo joined the Zoom family, we’ve seen how powerful this platform is at engaging workforces and bringing culture to life — especially for frontline employees who may not have a desk or even an email address."
