NSW Government takes a stealthy path to build a Customer Data Platform
The NSW Government’s Department of Customer Service plans to implement a Customer Data Platform (CDP) in the new year and has already undertaken a proof of concept, Mi3 understands.
The project did not go to public tender but instead was invitation only to CDP vendors, according to several industry execs familiar with the project.
The Department did not respond to Mi3's inquiries about why there was no open tender, or whether the plan was to orchestrate data across the whole of government. However a spokesperson told Mi-3 this morning: “The tender for the Customer Data Platform (CDP) is currently under evaluation and therefore no further update can be given at this stage.”
People familiar with the planning said the project could extend beyond just the Department of Customer Service to include data from other government agencies. This could not be confirmed, however, at the time of publishing. The industry had expected the tender to have been issued before Christmas but it has apparently been delayed.
