Lululemon taps oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh for Lunar new year campaign

Athletic apparel company lululemon has joined forces with Academy Award-winning actress and International Olympic Committee member, Michelle Yeoh, for its Lunar New Year campaign. The collaboration is set to bring a touch of Hollywood glamour to the brand's celebration of the eastern holiday.

The campaign will see the launch of select items from lululemon's Lunar New Year collection in Australia later this month. The collection features the Align Tank, the Everywhere Belt Bag, and the Pace Breaker Short, all presented in a Lunar New Year colour palette of dark red and gold.

A campaign video featuring Yeoh has been released on lululemon's official Youtube channel. The video includes a short film titled 'Be Spring', which showcases Yeoh alongside eight theatrical dancers of 'Wing Chun'. The film, shot in the picturesque mountain settings of Jingning and Xiandu, features Yeoh wearing lululemon's classic Define Jacket.

"I’m delighted to be partnering with lululemon. Sports have always been an important element of my life, and in my role as a member of the International Olympic Committee, I am committed to helping more people, especially younger generations, benefit from sports," Yeoh said.

Lululemon China Vice President of Brand Marketing & Community, Lynn Cheah, said the company's ethos is that everyone has the right to be well.

"We are committed to the advocacy of wellbeing. This new year, we wanted to explore wellbeing through the lens of eastern culture – our essence, our energy and our spirit," she said. "Presented through the juxtaposition of Chinese martial arts - in this case Wing Chun - and dance, 'Be Sprin' is a celebration of spring, and an invitation to find your balance and your own eternal spring. It is an honour and a pleasure to have both Michelle Yeoh and dancers from the theatrical dance Wing Chun join us in realising this film. Through their movements, they truly demonstrate both the power of martial arts and the grace of dance."

Founded in 1998 in Vancouver, BC Canada, lululemon is a healthy lifestyle-inspired athletic apparel company.
