Marketing maverick Swidenbank acquires Collabosaurus, eyeing luxury brand expansion

In a significant move within the tech sector, Collabosaurus, the Australian platform known for facilitating brand collaborations, has been snapped up by marketing agency leader, Lauren Swidenbank. This acquisition is a noteworthy step towards diversifying leadership in the tech industry, where exits by all-female founders account for a meagre 0.8% of total exit value.

Founded by Jessica Ruhfus in 2015, Collabosaurus has seen an impressive average growth of over 84% each year. The platform boasts a roster of over 10,700 brands, including heavyweights such as ASOS, Marks & Spencer, Walmart, Cointreau, and Microsoft, and a robust profit margin of 46.8%.

Swidenbank, the CEO and Founder of Cali Social, a performance marketing agency specialising in female-first brands, expressed her excitement about the acquisition. 'I'm excited about the scalability and potential of Collabosaurus, and was impressed by the platform's unique model fostering win/win marketing collaborations, amidst rising saturation and an uncertain economy,' she said. Swidenbank plans to leverage her background in performance marketing to continue the growth trajectory of the brand and enhance Collabosaurus' market presence.

Collabosaurus operates as a tech platform that match-makes brands for marketing collaborations. Both Swidenbank and Ruhfus see potential to scale Collabosaurus further, particularly in the luxury brand space and overseas markets.

Ruhfus' decision to sell was influenced by her desire to focus on her new venture, No.2 - an ecommerce brand in the home fragrance category. 'The organic and swift acquisition process began over dinner. We both had a shared vision for the future of the brand, and I have full confidence that Lauren's leadership will continue to propel Collabosaurus forward,' Ruhfus stated.

The acquisition of Collabosaurus by Swidenbank signals a promising future for the platform, with potential for expansion into new markets and sectors. It also highlights the growing influence of female leaders in the tech industry, a trend that is sure to be watched closely by industry insiders.
