Emirates serves an ace: Marks decade of Australian Open sponsorship
Emirates is set to return as the Official Airline of the Australian Open 2024, marking a decade of its sponsorship. The airline has been a steadfast partner with Tennis Australia since 2015, ferrying tennis enthusiasts and players across six continents.
Barry Brown, Emirates' Divisional Vice President of Australasia, expressed his pride in the partnership.
"Emirates' involvement in the Australian Open continues to be a source of immense pride for the airline and showcases our commitment to Australia's rich sporting culture," he said. "In lock step with our steadfast support of Australia, continuing our sponsorship for a tenth year reflects the deep-rooted connection Emirates has built over our 26 years of service to the country."
Emirates plans to present various experiences throughout the tournament, including Kids Tennis Day and Emirates Day. The brand maintains its sponsorship of the AO Ballpark, which officially opens on Kids Tennis Day on 13 January 2024. This year, interactive games and activities will be on offer including the Emirates Cloud Catcher, themed art wall and Emirates Quiz Board.
The Australian Open 2024 will also see the return of Emirates' hospitality suite, which will feature a look and feel inspired by the airline's flagship A380 aircraft. The latest Emirates A380 Onboard Lounge Bar will make its debut in the suite, offering VIPs a speciality Tie Breaker cocktail comprised of Aperol, Sloe Gin, lemon juice and Schweppes Agrum Blood Orange Soda.
Adding to the immersive experience, Emirates' inflight entertainment system, ice, will air live matches of the Australian Open 2024. Matches will be aired live on Sport 24 onboard the aircraft, as well as in the A380 onboard lounges, and across dedicated Emirates airport lounges.
Tennis Australia CEO, Craig Tiley, said Emirates had been an integral part of the Australian Open for the last nine years.
"We're thrilled to welcome them as the Official Airline of the Australian Open 2024 for the tenth year sharing our mutual love of this incredible sport," he said.
In addition to its Australian Open sponsorship, Emirates has been ramping up its services in Australia. The airline recently introduced a third daily service from Melbourne with a stopover to Singapore and unveiled its new Premium Economy cabin from Melbourne.
