Sunrise now top breakfast show for 20 years

Australia's Seven Network's Sunrise has again landed Australia's top breakfast television program, marking its 20th consecutive year. The show, currently hosted by Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington, continues to dominate breakfast viewing across the country, reaching more than 2.27 million Australians nationally each week.

This year, Sunrise has seen a significant increase in its national BVOD audience, with a growth of 25%. In addition, the show has amassed more than 2.5 million followers across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

Backing Seven Network's stronghold on morning television, The Morning Show, another of its offerings, has held the title of Australia's #1 morning TV show for 16 consecutive years. The Morning Show reaches 1.6 million viewers weekly, while Weekend Sunrise reaches 1.3 million.

Sunrise was #1 across the capital cities and led breakfast viewing in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania. In the capital cities, Sunrise boasted a 45.9% commercial audience share, or 6.1 points more than its nearest competitor. Its audience share in regional markets was at 51.7%, or 19.2 points bigger.

In terms of viewership, Sunrise had 28% more viewers nationally than its closest competitor and almost 16% more in the capital cities. In regional Australia, it was 59% ahead.

Sarah Stinson, Seven Network Director of Morning Television, said: 'We’re thrilled and humbled to once again end the year as the country’s most-watched breakfast and morning TV shows. It means a lot to everyone at Sunrise and The Morning Show to be #1 across Australia, the capital cities and in every single state – and to be #1 for two decades is amazing. We’re only #1 because of the incredible community that tunes into Sunrise and The Morning Show every day.'
