Chase through Christmas cheer,
A gift lost, then found in flight,
Air New Zealand's care.
Air New Zealand, Bastion Shine launch 'Great Christmas chase' campaign with a cinematic twist
Air New Zealand, in collaboration with Bastion Shine, has unveiled a Christmas campaign that combines the spirit of the festive season with the thrill of an action movie. The campaign, aptly titled 'The Great Christmas Chase', aims to showcase the lengths an Air New Zealander will go to ensure a passenger's Christmas remains special.
The campaign builds on Air New Zealand's tradition of unique Christmas campaigns, while consciously breaking away from expected Christmas tropes. It features a flight attendant in a race against time to return a lost Christmas gift to a young passenger.
Ryan Jordan, Group Strategy Director at Bastion Shine, said: 'At the heart of Air New Zealand is their people. They are the airline's most distinctive asset, and their unconventional way of showing care is what sets them apart from other airlines. We wanted to demonstrate the inherent care Air New Zealanders have and show the extreme lengths they will go to ensure each, and every passenger has a great Christmas.'
The campaign doesn't just tell a story; it presents it like a blockbuster movie. It uses elements of the action movie genre and has been promoted like a film release, complete with trailers, film posters, and social content. This innovative approach to a Christmas campaign adds a fresh twist to the festive advertising landscape.
Dom Antelme, Executive Creative Director at Bastion Shine, said: 'The campaign leans into the action movie genre, using easter eggs from iconic films to hyperbolise the suspense and physical feats the Air New Zealander needs to overcome to save Christmas for an unsuspecting passenger.'
The campaign was directed by Josh Frizzell, with production by Reel Factory and media by Dentsu.
