Foxtel appoints Aldi's former comms manager Adrian Christie as new communications director

Foxtel has announced the appointment of Adrian Christie as the replacement for Jacqui Abbott in the role of Executive Director – Group Communications.

Christie, who previously held the position of Communications Director for Aldi Stores Australia for six years, will begin his role at Foxtel at the end of March.

In an email to staff to introduce the new comms leader, Foxtel chief, Patrick Delaney, highlighted Christie's significant brand credentials. During his tenure at Aldi, Christie was responsible for overseeing corporate affairs, government relations, internal communications and consumer PR for nearly 600 stores across Australia and a workforce of over 16,000. He brings with him two decades of experience in communications and marketing across various sectors. His areas of speciality include youth communications, consumer technology, social media, content development, issues management and corporate strategy.

Prior to Aldi, Christie held senior roles at PayPal, Sony PlayStation and large agencies including Edelman and Ogilvy PR. Christie and Abbott previously worked together at Ogilvy.

Abbott will finish her role at Foxtel on Thursday 28 March, a month after the official debut of the new Hubbl TV and streaming product offering on 21 February.
