Sky News Australia launches dedicated Election Channel as global votes loom

Sky News Australia will provide 24/7 coverage of upcoming elections in Australia and across, launching a dedicated Election Channel that will go live on Friday, 28 June.

The channel will provide comprehensive coverage of campaign trails across Australia and the world, including political news conferences, leaders' debates, policy announcements, and events.

The Sky News Election Channel will have access to international news services including Sky News UK, C-SPAN, CNN, Fox News, Reuters, AP and AFP. The channel's launch will feature the first US Presidential debate of 2024 between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, simulcast live at 11:00 am AEST. Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen will be reporting live from Atlanta, Georgia for the US Presidential debate.

Coverage of France's snap parliamentary election will commence on Sunday, 30 June, with second round voting on Sunday, 7 July. The channel will also cover the UK General Election on Friday, 5 July, live from 7:00 am AEST. Sky News Anchor Laura Jayes will be live in London for the UK General Election.

"As Europe and the United States face critical elections that will impact Australia's international affairs for years to come, the Sky News Election Channel will provide Australians with the most comprehensive and dedicated live coverage," said Chief Executive Officer at Sky News Australia, Paul Whittaker. "While closer to home, the focus will be on the Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory Elections, the Queensland and Western Australian State Elections and a Federal Election, all set to take place in the months ahead."

The Sky News Election Channel will temporarily replace Sky News Extra. The channel will be available on the SkyNews.com.au Streaming Subscription, Foxtel and Flash. Sky News channels are operated and distributed by Australian News Channel Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of News Corp Australia.
