Poppy Reid exits The Brag Media after 8 years
The co-founder and editor in chief of The Brag Media Poppy Reid has announced her exit from the media business, following Luke Girgis and Sam Benjamin out the door nine months after the Vinyl Group acquisition.
The trio founded the business at the end of 2016, launching both the Rolling Stone Australia and Variety Australia titles in 2022. Alongside her role as the group's editor in chief, Reid also oversaw editorial for both licensed titles.
Sharing the news in a LinkedIn post, Reid said "after almost eight years building and growing the business, I am ready for my next career growth spurt".
"Our team would not have been able to help deliver quarter after quarter of consecutive growth, launch new publications, new formats, initiatives and strategies without their leadership, advocacy and cheerleading," she wrote.
"That all-star team built a publishing business from almost no revenue to a place where it was acquired by a public company for $10 million."
Girgis, who departed the company in June, has since joined premium meal delivery service Providoor as CEO. The business was bought by Benjamin, who serves as Chair, via his venture capital firm Seventh Street Ventures last year.
Vinyl Group installed Jessica Hunter as the new head of The Brag Media in the wake of Girgis' exit. She first joined the business as General Manager in mid 2023.
Vinyl Group declined to comment on Reid's departure, citing company policy that it does not comment on individual employee matters.
