Carma appoints Sling & Stone as it revs up Australian expansion of its automotive marketplace
Automotive marketplace disruptor Carma has named Sling & Stone as its communications agency of record.
Carma aims to revolutionise the way people buy cars by providing a single online destination for quality-assured vehicles. Founded in 2021, Carma secured the largest seed funding round in Australian history at the time. Unlike peer-to-peer marketplaces, Carma owns the cars and delivers them directly to the buyer’s homes, complete with integrated financing options. All vehicles undergo a rigorous in-house inspection and reconditioning process, with Carma rejecting nearly 90% of the vehicles it evaluates.
The group said it chose the agency to support its expansion across Australia.
"As we aspire to become the trusted leader in Australian used cars, partnering with the right agencies is paramount. Sling & Stone has a record of working with disruptor and challenger brands and we were impressed by their creative approach to both consumer and corporate communications," said Director of Brand Marketing at Carma, Emily Meier-Murren.
Sling & Stone will support Carma’s growth through an integrated earned media, social and content-driven approach. Carma was recently named the Australian Financial Review’s Most Innovative Company in the retail, hospitality, tourism and entertainment category. The company also recently secured a $73 million Series A funding round.
"A car is the second biggest purchase many Australians will make in their lifetime, and for many who don’t have a deep understanding of the automotive industry, it’s one of the riskiest. Carma is truly disrupting the used car industry and setting a new standard for customers who crave a seamless, trustworthy buying experience," said Global Head of Consumer at Sling & Stone, Kasi Talbot.
