GumGum appoints Matt Coote as new country manager for Australia
GumGum, a contextual-first technology company in digital advertising, has announced the appointment of Matt Coote as its new Country Manager for Australia. Coote's role will be centred around driving revenue growth, leading strategic initiatives, and strengthening GumGum’s presence across Australia.
Coote brings over 13 years of experience in the media industry to his new role, including eight years at Snap Inc., where he was a founding member of the ANZ team and served as Head of Sales. His achievements include winning the B&T 30 Under 30 Award for Media.
In his new role, Coote will be responsible for leading the sales team, guiding effective cross-functional strategies, and expanding GumGum's footprint in Australia. He will also oversee trading deals, ensuring consistent value for partners and clients.
"I have had the privilege of working in roles that prioritise innovation and technology, which aligns perfectly with GumGum’s commitment to driving progress in digital advertising," said Coote. "What really excited me about this role was hearing about the strong cultural foundation GumGum has built. I look forward to collaborating with the team to build on what’s already here. As Bill Marklein says, ‘Culture is how employees’ hearts and stomachs feel about Monday morning on Sunday night.’ That’s where the magic happens, and I can’t wait to help make that even stronger at GumGum."
Niall Hogan, General Manager, JAPAC, at GumGum, expressed his excitement over Coote's appointment. "We’re excited to welcome Matt Coote to GumGum. His deep expertise and dedication to cultivating a strong team culture make him an excellent addition to our team," said Hogan. "The energy and perspective Matt brings, along with his focus on fostering cross-market collaborations will be invaluable. By partnering with stakeholders across the company, we believe Matt will refine our strategies and drive impactful results in this market."
Coote is known for his passion for emotional intelligence and building strong relationships, drawing insights from leaders like Jay Shetty and Brené Brown. He is a fan of the Geelong Cats and Canberra Raiders, and values the contributions of advocacy groups like The Village that support working parents in the media.
"Relocating to Newcastle was initially the plan, but that’s on pause for now—so you’ll be seeing plenty of me in Sydney," Coote shared.
