Avenue C snags Quickbooks account from UM following competitive pitch

Independent media agency, Avenue C, has scooped QuickBooks from UM to add to its client roster, following a competitive multi-agency pitch.

QuickBooks, an accounting software package developed and marketed by Intuit, is used by small and medium-sized businesses, accountants and advisors. The software offers both on-premises and cloud-based versions, facilitating various financial functions such as business payments, bill management, and payroll.

Avenue scoops the agency deal from incumbent, UM. Quickbooks also used R/GA for its brand positioning and appointed the group as an agency of record last year.

This new acquisition follows Avenue C's recent addition of Kitchen Aid as a client. Avenue C will now manage all media for QuickBooks, excluding SEM, taking over from incumbent, UM.

Marketing Director at Intuit Australia, Jane Merrick, praised Avenue C's unique proposition within the Australian market, industry knowledge, and strategic direction.

"Avenue C’s offering intrigued us, as it’s a unique media agency proposition within the Australian market. The level of industry knowledge relevant to our category and proven success in growing similar business’s bottom line impressed us from the outset," Merrick said. She also highlighted the appeal of Avenue C's operational continuity over the complexity of traditional media houses.

"Having the continuity of stakeholders that oversee strategy, implementation, and reporting, creates a well informed and seamless operation. This appealed to us over the multiple layers of seniority and complexity in a traditional media house, where continuity can get lost throughout the go-to-market process," Merrick said.

"From the moment we met Jane, AJ and the team we knew we were the right partner for the Intuit business – they are an awesome team with similar values to our business, as well as a challenger brand anchored in reaching Aussie SMBs, accountants and advisors - so right within our wheelhouse," Managing Partner at Avenue C, Will Chapman, expressed excitement over the partnership, said.
