Samsung TV Plus Australia expands free streaming service with 13 new FAST channels

Samsung Ads, the advertising division of Samsung Electronics, has broadened its free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service, Samsung TV Plus Australia (STVP), with the introduction of 13 new dedicated channels. The new channels include popular shows such as Dog The Bounty Hunter, Ice Road Truckers, Duck Dynasty, and Emmy award-winning series, Intervention.

Bingeable environments, where viewers consume back-to-back episodes, make up six of the top twelve most-watched channels on STVP. A third (37%) of total viewing time on STVP is now spent in bingeable environments. STVP's viewing time has increased by 58% YoY, attributed to its continued investment in quality content, user experience and unique partnerships.

Globally, single IP channels have been identified as one of FAST's strongest performance drivers, with just over 17% of all FAST channels in the US last year being dedicated content. The number of bingeable format channels has grown from 86 to 340 since 2020.

"Since day one, we’ve been focused on building a vast, unrivalled library of quality content to drive the highest value to our viewers. We are thrilled to launch this slate of new channels which delivers something for everyone, and significantly boosts our unscripted FAST offering with some of the strongest brands in the genre. For the first time, our Samsung TV Plus audiences will be able to stream these iconic series and larger than life characters for free," said Head of Samsung TV Plus ANZ & SEA, Ed Love.

Sales Director Samsung Ads ANZ, Richard Wheeler, said: "This is not just the content that our audiences enjoy and return to, but also the content brands and advertisers are looking for. The slate of high performing popular channels provides advertisers with more access to quality brand safe content on the big screen."
