News Corp Australia's head of ad tech exits amid restructure
Paul Luckett has departed from News Corp Australia after his role as Head of Ad Tech and Commercial Innovation was impacted by a recent round of cuts at the Murdoch-owned media company.
The cuts make way for a restructure to the business that has seen its split into three nationally centralised divisions - metro titles, free offerings, and prestige.
Luckett confirmed his redundancy in a post shared to LinkedIn on Friday.
"I arrived at NCA nearly 7 years ago, with one goal, change the way News Corp Australia views and does Ad Tech. When I arrived there was no dedicated ad tech department, and I was given the privilege and honour of building it up from scratch. Doing so, alongside an amazing boss and legendary employees, was the highlight of my career to date. While the department we built has come to an end, I hold my head high knowing what we achieved together during the time we had," wrote Luckett.
Luckett first joined News Corp Australia as Senior Tech Manager in 2017 and the following year was promoted to Head of Commercial Ad Technology. In 2022 he was elevated into a joint remit as Head of Ad Tech and Commercial Innovation and Global Ad Tech Strategy Lead.
Others reportedly impacted by the cuts at the media business include editor-in-chief of news.com.au, Lisa Muxworthy, and group director of News Corp's Editorial Innovation Centre, John McGourty.
News Corp Australia did not respond to Mi3's request for comment.
