Grant Burge Wines toasts to '30 leaving their mark' in 30th anniversary initiative
Grant Burge Wines, in partnership with Guardian Labs, is launching '30 Leaving Their Mark', a campaign to celebrate 30 Australians who exemplify the values of generosity, kindness, and community spirit.
The initiative coincides with the 30th anniversary of Grant Burge Wines Pinot Noir Chardonnay, marking a significant milestone for the renowned winery.
The campaign invites Australians to nominate individuals who are making a significant impact under three key pillars: Community, Innovation, and Culture. The nominations, open to all Australian residents over the age of 25, will run until February 15 2024. The chosen '30 Leaving Their Mark' will be announced at a special event in March 2024.
Endorsed by a panel of judges including Paralympian and 2022 Australian of the Year Dylan Alcott, Grant Burge Chief Winemaker Craig Stansborough, and Guardian Labs Content and Strategy Director Justine O’Donnell, the initiative aims to honour those who are quietly making a difference in their communities.
Alcott emphasised the campaign's focus on recognising the unsung heroes in our society. "Leaving your mark isn’t about celebrity, fame or how many followers you have on social media, it’s about making change for the better, to improve or enhance the lives of others in the spirit of generosity. That’s why we want to acknowledge and celebrate the quiet achievers, those who are having a positive impact on their community or broader society," he said.
Community is about acknowledging individuals who stand out in their communities, promoting cohesion and diversity whilst moving Australia’s social fabric forward. The Innovation category, meanwhile, aims to recognise those who boldly challenge the status quo through experimentation and curiosity. In the Culture category, Grant Burge is looking to identify Australians who are moving the dial from a cultural perspective, those making waves in the sports, art, music or fashion worlds.
"This initiative resonates deeply with me as it aligns with the core values of Grant Burge Wines – recognising and celebrating individuals who are making a meaningful impact in their communities. Being able to contribute to the acknowledgment of these unsung heroes and innovators is a privilege," Stansborough said.
Grant Burge Wines has been a leading producer of sparkling, white, red, and fortified wines since 1865, and has been rated a five red star winery by James Halliday for 15 consecutive years.
Nominations will be judged by our panel led by Paralympian and 2022 Australian of the Year Dylan Alcott. Judging criteria includes the scope and scale of the achievement or activity, its beneficial impact on the local community and/or broader society, and its potential for growth or expansion to deliver greater benefits.
The 30 finalists will receive a recognition certificate and be invited to a celebratory event in March 2024. They will also be announced in an article in The Guardian online and a short profile will be published on the Grant Burge Wines website.
