Skift, Intrepid Travel launch Climate Hub: A new initiative for sustainable travel journalism
US travel industry news site Skift has partnered with Intrepid Travel to launch the Climate Hub, an initiative aimed at providing solutions-based journalism for the travel industry with a focus on sustainable practices and climate change challenges.
The partnership with the Australian tour company, known for its responsible travel and sustainable practices, was unveiled at the Skift Global Forum in September.
The initiative will see Skift hire a climate reporter to cover advancements and challenges in sustainability across the global travel sector. The coverage will span all travel sectors, including aviation, hospitality, suppliers, and online travel agencies (OTAs). Skift will retain editorial control over all content, ensuring its independence.
"Our goal is to provide honest, critical, and impartial journalism about the climate issues facing the travel industry," said Editor-in-Chief at Skift, Sarah Kopit. "We're excited to dedicate more resources to this crucial beat, and we believe this will allow us to spotlight the innovations and challenges shaping the future of travel."
Founder and CEO of Skift, Rafat Ali, said: "We're thrilled to dedicate resources to covering this critical issue," he said. "Sustainability is not only one of the most important topics in the travel industry today, but it's also an area where we are seeing remarkable advancements. We are excited to help spotlight the innovation happening across the sector."
The Climate Hub's editorial content will be featured in Skift's newsletters and during its in-person events.
